Wale Denies Being Dropped From Interscope
Wale took to Twitter yesterday (February 15) to dispel rumors that he has been dropped from the Interscope roster.
The news which originally spread throughout the internet yesterday morning was quickly denied by the DC rapper who wrote, "N*ggas be pressed to make shyt up huh," in response to a fan's tweet.
Wale signed to Interscope Records in 2008 and released his debut album, Attention Deficit, in 2009. The project was well received by the critics, and considering the size of his fan base, was a moderate success. Featuring collaborations with Lady Gaga, Gucci Mane, and Jazmine Sullivan, the album found Wale trying to appeal to a wider audience while still staying true to his go-go roots.
Wale recently made headlines due to the negative feedback he received from the release of the music video for his single Pretty Girls. Some felt that only females of a lighter complexion were featured in the footage and sent a negative message to those who with darker skin.
The rapper blamed the lack of darker skinned women in the video on limited casting options as only two dark-skinned women showed up the shoot. He did however have control of casting in the video for his song My Sweetie, which features women of all complexions.
